When it comes to wall TV installation, you should always trust a professional to take care of the installation process for you. With that said, however, you never want to overpay an installation expert to do the job…but how can you tell if you are being overcharged? We’ve got a few tips…
Wall TV Installation: Are You Overpaying For Your Installation Service?
Before you call to book the installation for your new TV, it’s important to call ahead to get quotes for the work that you want to be done. Calling ahead will allow you to get pricing information from a few different companies so that you can compare their costs.
Planning ahead this way will also give you the chance to research various companies to find out more about their quality of service and see what previous clients have to say about the service that they received.
Often, just by reading reviews from previous clients, you can find out if a company charged exorbitant prices or if their service was worth the fee that they charged.
That all said, there are some signs that can let you know that you are being overcharged or that you are going to be overcharged. Let’s take a look at a few of them…
An Installer or Installation Company Refuses To Give You a Quote
Any time that you employ someone to provide you with a service, it’s your right to know how much you are going to be asked to pay. After all, how else will you know whether a service is within your budget range?
Yes, there are times when your contractor can only give you a quote within a certain range, but that should ALWAYS give you some type of quote so that you can determine whether or not you are able to pay for the service.
At Gulf Coast Installations, we keep our prices low and will always give you a quote for installation services.
Your Quote Includes “Fees”
When you receive a quote for the installation of your television, pay close attention to the service that you are quoted for. Is your quote a flat fee installation? Or is it broken down into different parts?
If your fee is a flat fee, ask what that fee includes – will there be any additional charges on top of this quote to get the job done to completion?
Is your fee broken down into “parts?” If so, what are those parts? Does each charge make sense or are there some charges that you don’t understand? Perhaps charges that have been written in “technical jargon”? This is a common tactic used by companies worldwide to try and dupe you into paying more for a service. Scamming companies believe that you don’t want to appear “unknowledgeable” and so you won’t confront them about the added fees or the technical jargon that they have used. Don’t let them take advantage of you. If there is something on your quote that you don’t understand, never be afraid to ask what that service is, what the fee is for, and why you are being asked to pay it (if there is some question as to whether or not you should.)
Remember, you are paying for this service and you have the right to fair service at a fair price and you always have the right to say “no thank you.”
Your Installer Mentions Complications or Possible Extra Charges
During the installation of your television, if you hear your installer making mention of complications or possible added charges, find out more information. It is possible that there is a unique circumstance underlying your installation project, but it is also possible that your installer is trying to take advantage of you.
If your installer says something about a complication, find out as much information as you can about this “complication.” Ask your installer to explain what has happened and to SHOW you the problem. If your installer is reluctant to show you or if they show you and you don’t see what they are talking about, it’s worth getting a second option before paying your original installer any additional money.
