At Gulf Coast Installations, we help residents in the Southwest of Florida with all kinds of installations and many times we get questions from our clients about the services that we offer. Once in a while we share those questions and their answers here on our blog. Today we’re going to cover some of the electrical installation questions that we have been asked recently.
Electrical Installation FAQs: Answering More of Your Questions
Q: Do I Need to Have an Installation Expert Do My TV Installation Wiring?
A: We always recommend it. Why? Because when you start running wiring behind the walls you are not only working with electricity, but you are also going to have to cut into the wall to run the wiring. When you are cutting into the walls of your home, you really need to have knowledge about electricity as well as DIY because you need to be sure that you are mounting your TV in a place where it is properly secured and steady. You also need to be sure that you aren’t cutting into any existing wiring or even pipes!
There is another benefit to having an expert do your wiring for you, too, expert installers have the knowledge and experience (and the tools) to get the job done well. That means that you don’t have unsightly wiring running around the room, you have wiring that is run neatly from your TV to the wall with optional cable covering so that you see nothing at all! There’s also the benefit of not having to do the work yourself!
Q: Does it Matter Who I Get to Install My TV or Entertainment System?
A: Yes!
You may think that so long as you hire a “professional” that you can’t go wrong, but this isn’t true. When you hire an installation company to install your TV or entertainment system, you don’t just want a professional for the job, you want a licensed professional who carries insurance and who has a good reputation. This ensures that your installation is done correctly, done well, and that if an accident does happen, the installer is covered by insurance so you won’t be left out of pocket.
It’s also important to note here that you should never allow a “handyman” to do your installation jobs for you, either. A “handyman” is often just someone who enjoys doing DIY, but who has never actually trained as a professional in any of the professional fields related to the jobs that they do. This means that they haven’t been licensed to do the job properly and that could mean disaster for the job, it could also mean disaster for you if the job goes wrong because the chances are that if they aren’t licensed, they aren’t insured either!
Q: What Other Jobs Can A Professional Installer Do For Me?
A: At Gulf Coast Installations, we do many types of installation services and all of our technicians are professionally licensed and insured. What types of services can we offer?

Q: How Do I Know If An Installation Company is Reliable?
A: When you set about hiring an installation company, there are a few things that you can do to ensure that the company that you hire is reliable. The first thing is to check that the company has a license and is insured. To do this, simply ask!
The next thing you want to do is to do a little research on the company. Find out when the company began and how long they have been in your area. If you find that a company has moved frequently and undergone multiple name changes, it’s a good idea to move on.
You can also look at reviews from previous clients who have use that company before. Are these reviews positive? Negative? Or a mixture of both? What did clients have to say? What things did they like and didn’t they like about this company? These things can tell you a lot about a company before you choose to work with them yourself!
