TV Mounting Service: Tips and Tricks From the Pros!

There are plenty of benefits to wall mounting your TV including better viewing range, less cluttered space, and more natural viewing angles, but the process of mounting the TV itself can be very challenging. Despite being challenging, many homeowners still attempt their own installations and if you’re one of those people, we’ve got a few tips to help you with the process.

Now, before we start sharing tips and tricks to help you with your install, we HAVE to share the following caution –  If you have no DIY experience, no electrical experience or training, and basically no idea what you are doing, please don’t try to install your own wall-mounted television!

With that said, let’s get on to the tips and tricks that can make your project a little bit easier!

Invest in a Solid TV Wall Mount!

With so many TV mounting brackets and fixtures on the market, it can be difficult to know which one is right for your needs. As you browse through the selection of brackets available, you may be tempted to invest in a cheaper option simply because it is more affordable, please don’t. Cheaper mounting brackets are made from cheaper materials and are not going to serve you as well as other sturdier and more expensive options. Don’t get us wrong, you don’t have to splash out on the most expensive bracket out there, but don’t go for the cheapest one either.

What can go wrong when you invest in a cheap mount? It’s possible that the mount is made from cheap materials which are not able to support the weight of your television. It’s also possible that joints of the mount are not strong enough to withstand years of use so after a while, you will notice that your TV mount begins to weaken and you risk your TV falling.

Pay Attention to the Materials You Use

Another important consideration when it comes to mounting your TV is the quality of materials that you are using. To ensure that your mounted television is secure and everyone in your family is safe, you have to make sure to choose materials that are strong, highly rated, and suitable for the job at hand. Consider the following:

  • Are the screws rated to support the weight load of your television?
  • Is the wall mount you have selected a reputable one? For example, what do reviewers say about their experience with it even after years of use?
  • Is your stud finder reliable? You’ll want to be sure that you really are mounting your TV to a stud and not to what you think is a stud because your stud finder is unreliable.
  • Are the materials you are using compatible with each other For example, are the anchors and screws you are using sized to be compatible?

Don’t Wing It

Don’t make things up as you go or attempt to do your own wall-mounted television installation simply by watching a DIY video on YouTube. And don’t guess at the materials you need to get the job done either! “Winging it” is the perfect way to install your TV improperly and wind up with a broken television, a hole in your drywall, and maybe even injuries! Yes, it may seem “simple enough” to install that mount and set up your TV but it’s not as easy as you might think and far too much can go wrong if you don’t know what you are doing!
