As a premier Marco Island installation company, here at Gulf Coast Installs, we have been installing video doorbells for as long as they have been available. We know that before calling an installation expert, however, you need to know a little more about which product to buy. Last week, we shared some information about the Ring doorbell system on our Facebook page, and today, we want to talk a little bit about the Arlo Doorbell system.
Marco Island Installation Expert Shares 6 Facts About the Arlo Doorbell
1. The Arlo Doorbell System Calls You
When you have the Arlo doorbell system installed, the doorbell will call your phone when someone rings your doorbell. This video call will allow you to see who is at the door and to communicate directly with them. The video call goes to everyone who is on the contact list for the doorbell system and if someone else in your family answers the video call, you will receive a notification that the call has been answered. This system is easier for some smartphone users who prefer to receive actual phone calls rather than shorter notification alerts that can be missed easily.
2. Arlo Has a Voicemail Feature
The “voicemail” feature of the Arlo doorbell allows anyone who rings your doorbell to leave you a message much as they would with a voicemail. This means that if you are unable to come to the door or answer the call from the Arlo doorbell system, you can find out more information about who called at your home by listening to the short message they left.
3. The Arlo Doorbell Offers Quick Responses Too
Sometimes we don’t have time to answer the door even when we have the convenience of a video doorbell. Arlo has solved this problem by adding in a “quick response” feature. This feature allows you to receive the Arlo doorbell call on your phone and rather than requiring you to answer the call directly, you can simply press one of the quick response buttons that appear in the Arlo smartphone app. These quick responses include things such as “I’m busy”, “Not interested”, “Leave the package outside”, and “We’ll be right there”. You should know, however, that at this time these messages cannot be customized, but this is a feature that has been requested by many customers and it may be added in the future.
4. Arlo Works With Your Existing Doorbell Chime
Not all video doorbell systems will allow you to retain your existing doorbell chime. This can be a pain if you have a custom doorbell chime in your home. The Arlo doorbell system has been created in such a way that you are able to keep your existing chime.
5. Arlo Doesn’t Have to Be a Standalone System
Not all video doorbell systems are compatible with other smart home components and not all video doorbell systems have their own components available. What this means for you if you choose one of these types of video doorbells is that you will have to install separate components from different companies to complete your smart home setup and as a result, you’ll have to use multiple smartphone apps which can get confusing. Arlo does have multiple smart home components, however, including video security cameras, security lights, and the option of adding in a solar charging panel.
6. Arlo Allows You to Enhance Your Doorbell Chime
If you have a large home, you may well know the difficulty of not being able to hear the doorbell chime when you are in an area of the home that’s further away from the door. The Arlo app makes it much easier to hear the doorbell, but if you happen to be in the middle of a chore like folding laundry, you may not have your phone on hand. Arlo has created a doorbell chime extender that solves this problem. The small device just plugs into the wall in any area of your home and when your doorbell rings, the chime will be sounded directly through the plugged-in device. The chime extender doesn’t just ring when your doorbell rings either, it can be set to chime when motion is noted by the Arlo video doorbell as well!
